April 19, 1956 - To fulfill the requirements of French law, and Roman Catholic rules on marriage, Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III of Monaco had both civil and religious weddings. The church ceremony took place at Monaco’s Saint Nicholas Cathedral. The ceremony was watched by an estimated 30 million people on television.
